Looking for a way to serve your parish with your time and talents? We would like to create rotating lists of volunteers at each parish to help in the areas listed. Please contact Pastoral Associate Roseann Furbush at roseann@mpb-stp.org or 508-653-6253 X118 if you can help.
Liturgy Coordinator The Liturgy Coordinator facilitates the celebration of Mass. He/she arrives 30 minutes prior to Mass and is responsible for ensuring all is in readiness for the Mass. The responsibilities include: unlocking the doors, turning on the sound system, lighting the altar candles, checking that the lectionary and the Book of the Gospels are in place, handling the offertory, inviting people to bring up the gifts, and counting the number of Mass attendees.
Greeters/Ushers Working in conjunction with the Liturgy Coordinator, Greeters welcome parishioners at Mass, assist in finding seats, help with the collection, invite people to bring up the gifts, and hand out bulletins after Mass.
Altar Linens Ministry Individuals are needed to care for the baptismal font, launder altar linens, change altar candles, care for the sacred vessels used at Mass, and launder the altar servers’ robes. The frequency of these duties varies from weekly to occasionally, depending on each item and the number of volunteers.
Decoration and Environment Ministry This ministry prepares the church building for the different seasons of the liturgical year – Advent, Christmas, Lent, and Easter. The major feasts of Christmas and Easter require the most “hands”. Approximately 2-3 hours are needed (the day before or day of) for Christmas Eve, Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday to be ready for each Mass. For the duration of these seasons, availability to water and maintain the plants would also be helpful.
