We welcome you to the preparation for Confirmation. What we offer is not just a catechetical program but also a process where teens experience Jesus in their lives through the signs, symbols, rituals and sacraments of the Roman Catholic Church to help the students accept for themselves the faith in which they have been baptized, and to achieve a deeper awareness of the Holy Spirit in their life. The Sacrament is the completion of Baptism and is seen as a sign of the candidate's commitment to the Catholic Faith.
The students come together to experience community and to reflect on their growth in the Christian faith. This will be facilitated through guest speakers, videos, and directed discussions. Within this context, they will study a number of basic doctrines of Catholicism… Who is Jesus? What is Faith? Gifts of the Holy Spirit, Marriage, Eucharist, Vocations and the Sacraments.
Prayer is talking with God, asking good things of ourselves and for others, being in His presence, and listening to Him talk to us. Our conversation with Christ must be at the center of our lives. Therefore, it is important that we make time each day for Christ, especially in the Sunday Mass, where we come together in community to meet our Risen Lord in the Scripture and Eucharist. Our hope is that through the prayer journal you will be able to reflect on how Christ is speaking to each of you, through Sacred Scripture and the homily. We pray that by journaling you will enter into a personal relationship with Christ. Jesus has a unique plan for each one of us, we just need to stop and take time to listen.
On specified Sunday’s, during Lent reflect on what Christ is saying to you in Sacred Scripture and the homily. What is Jesus telling you about yourself, your family, your relationships with others, or your relationship with Him? He has something to say to you, take time to quiet your mind and listen. Your reflections will be kept confidential, you do not have to use names of actual names of family members or friends. This is not an academic assignment it is meant to be prayerful and from the heart.
