Our Church teaches that parents are the primary educators of the faith. To this end, our First Communion Sacramental Preparation program has been created to partner with parents to help their children grow in knowledge and love of our loving and merciful God and prepare them to receive the sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion.
The First Communion Sacramental Preparation Program is for children in Grade 2, as well as those children in Grades 3-5 who are preparing to receive the sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Communion for the first time. We will follow a family formation model. Instruction and preparation for the Sacraments will consist of home lessons and a once monthly parent/child class. Classes will meet for 7 weekend sessions on Sunday morning and will include the celebration of the Mass. Classes will alternate between Most Precious Blood and St.Theresa on the following dates:
October 16 (STP), 9:15-11:30 AM
November 20 (MPB), 9:00-11:15 AM
December 18 (STP), 9:15-11:30 AM
January 8 (MPB), 9:00-11:15 AM
February 12 (MPB), 9:00-11:15 AM
March 26 (STP), 9:15-11:30 AM
April 29 (Saturday, First Communion Retreat, MPB), 9:00-11:30 AM
For parents of children enrolled in the First Communion Sacramental Preparation Program, there will be a meeting on Thursday, September 22, 7:00-8:00 PM, at Most Precious Blood. This meeting is for parents only and at least one parent from each family is required to attend.
