The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston (RCAB) and local parishes take the issue of child safety very seriously. In addition to the required training of adult volunteers working with children to recognize signs of sexual, physical, and/or emotional abuse in a child, RCAB requires every parish to provide training, called "Empowering God's Children," directly to children so that they may know how to keep themselves safe. Parishes must offer this training to children once per year using the RCAB approved VIRTUS curriculum from the National Catholic Risk Retention Group.
As parents, you have the right to be notified of the training, to review the training materials, and to make the choice to send your child(ren) to the training or to opt them out.
The links on the left navigation bar guide you to the training dates, a parent guide to child safety, the training materials that will be used in the class, and an online opt-out form.
