Religious Education

The children in our Religious Education community for grades 1-5 are filled with wonder and awe as they learn to experience Jesus’ love and guidance in their lives. Guided by catechists, most of who are parents themselves, sharing their faith, adds to the family feeling in this faith community. We would love to have your family experience their faith and grow with us.

The formation of our young people continues in grades 6-10 as they journey to become true Disciples of Christ in preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation. Our program is staffed by volunteers/catechists who "echo" the word of God to their students. Along with teaching Catholic doctrine, our program includes giving witness to Christian beliefs, proclaiming the gospel message, applying moral teachings and offering opportunities for Christian service. Twice a month there is a Sunday evening Youth Mass that offers contemporary music and youth-focused homilies.

This is what some of our 10th grade Confirmation Candidates had to say about their recent retreat: … “I learned more about my faith and what it means to have a relationship with God”. “This experience was a great character building event that really let me evaluate what I believe in and how that effects my actions”. “I met new people, played fun games, talked to God and learned about how I can make my faith important to me.” “I will apply what I have learned in this retreat to my daily life”. We welcome all teenagers to join us as we in grown in faith and love.

Weather policy:

Whenever Dover-Sherborn schools are canceled because of bad weather, daily Mass and Religious Education classes will be cancelled and the Parish Offices will be closed at St. Theresa and Most Precious Blood Churches.  On the weekends, cancellations will be announced on tv (channels 5 and 7) and there will be a recorded announcement on the parish phones.  In the event that there is no power or phone service, the parishes will be closed. Father Grimes urges everyone to stay off the roads during severe storms both for personal safety and to give town crews ample time to clear roads.
